This is the reason when you hear thunder, to go inside. This lightning is about 3 to 5 miles in front of the storm which makes it very dangerous. This lightning bolt is about between  1 and 3 miles in front of the camera. These thunderbolts are easily heard 20 to 30 mile away. This is not that common when you have powerful lightning (and these were powerful strikes) with no rain or a close storm.

You will see the lightning strike 2 minutes into the video.
